The SoaringPage.com was developed by Bill Palmer to aid all glider pilots in accessing information needed to learn and keep up to date on soaring information.

Bill is a retired A-350 Captain, instructor, and check pilot, and active CFIG and SSA member. He owns an ASG-29 and flies and teaches out of Warner Springs, CA. He is a 2024 recipient of the FAA's Wright Brothers Master Pilot award.
Bill is the author of Understanding Air France 447, a book about the loss of an Airbus A330 in the Atlantic Ocean in June 2009. He was also created and runs the soaring-classified site Glidersource.com and was the the programmer/ producer of "Written!", a written test prep program for FAA glider written exams and the first Bronze Badge test preparation software. Bill is the webmaster for Bob Wander's Soaring Books and Supplies (bobwander.com) (since its beginning) and several other websites.
In soaring, Bill holds a commercial certificate, a Diamond badge with 750KM Diplome, a single lennie pin, and instructs part time at Warner Springs, CA, and is an SSA designated "Master Cross Country Instructor" and the most active SSA instructor in the ABC& Bronze Badge program for region 12 in 2022 and 2023. He holds an ATP with multiple jet transport type ratings on Airbus, Boeing, and Douglas aircraft, and a CFI certificate (Airplanes: single and multiengine, Instrument, and Glider).
